Carolyn Mary Viets

August 5, 1951 - May 27, 2015

Carolyn Mary Viets, 63, a Cape Coral resident for the past two years, formerly of Naples, FL and Minneapolis, MN, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in Cape Coral. She was born on August 5, 1951 in Fairmont, MN to Frank and Beth Budde, now deceased.

Carolyn’s first decades were devoted to academics, including a B.S., Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Minnesota, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota. After being admitted to the Minnesota Bar in 1978 she practiced with a firm in Minneapolis before specializing in Trust and Estate taxation for banks in Minnesota, Florida and Connecticut. Her next decades were devoted to raising her son Addison as a full-time parent in Naples, FL. She also discovered tennis, playing in USTA leagues and the Collier County Women’s Tennis Association. She loved piano, cats, hiking in the woods and bicycling.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Richard Ray Viets of Cape Coral; son, Addison Martin Viets, of Orlando, FL, and two sisters, Barbara Drosman (Steven) of San Diego, CA and Martha Copeland (Judd) of Boise, ID and Cape Coral, FL.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

A Celebration Of Life will be held 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Mullins Memorial, 1056 NE 7th Terrace, Cape Coral, FL 33909 with family members officiating.

    I knew Carolyn in High School. She was the smartest girl in Fairmont High School, class of 1969. We went out on one date. I think it may have been my first real date. We went bowling.
