George Rudolph Tomlins

August 22, 1939 - May 29, 2015

George Rudolph Tomlins, 75, a Lee County resident for the past 37 years, formerly of Canton, Ohio, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 in Cape Coral. He was born on August 22, 1939 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to George and Lanah Tomlins, now deceased.
George attended Grace Church in Cape Coral. Although he started and sold several successful businesses, the work that was most dear to him concentrated on helping children. He was a founding member of the North Canton Jaycess; Masonic Lodge member; Scottish Rite member; member of the Araba Shrine, where he looked forward to escorting children on many trips to and from the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children in Tampa, Florida; founding member of the Cape Coral Optimist Club; volunteer for the Cape Coral Police Department; and a member of Grace Church School Mentoring Program, where he enjoyed reading with and assisting kids with schoolwork for three years.

He is survived by his beloved spouse of 55 years, Dotti L. Tomlins, of Cape Coral; daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Ray Carr of Lutz, Florida; two grandchildren, Sean and Olivia; as well as Bandit the dog.

George was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana Starks and brother, Chuck Tomlins.

A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Grace Church, 13 SE 21st Place, Cape Coral, Florida 33990 with Pastor Wes Olds officiating.
