George “Skip” Perry Slack

April 20, 1941 - March 5, 2015

George “Skip” Perry Slack, 73, a resident of Cape Coral since 1978, formerly of Springfield, OH, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015. He was born April 20, 1941 in Springfield, OH.

Skip was a member of the Pride RV Resort Ministries of North Carolina. He loved people and never met a stranger. Skip owned Skip’s Barber Shop for 30+ years until he was forced to stop working due to illness. He enjoyed volunteering at Cypress Lake High School in Fort Myers, Dunbar High School in Fort Myers, and Ida S. Baker High School in Cape Coral where he was known as Grandpa Skip. He also volunteered his time at Pride RV Resort Park in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. Skip was always there to help family and friends with whatever they needed.

A special thank you to Dr. Harwin’s office and to Hope Hospice in North Fort Myers for their loving care and support.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Dixie Slack of Cape Coral; mother, Jean Hohlmayer of Springfield, OH; three children, Melissa Robery (Craig) Cape Coral, Cheryl Smith (Evan) of Newton, AL and Diann Kynett of Cape Coral; two sisters, Connie Oman and Ginger Neuhardt; one brother, Doug Slack (Kay); six grandchildren, Zachary, Amanda (Justin), Evan, Julia (Travis), Maranda and Matt; two great grandchildren, Grant and Luke; as well as uncles Jack Hohlmayer (Donna), Bud Hohlmayer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Skip was preceded in death by his father, Howard Slack.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

Memorial Services will be held 7:00PM Monday, March 9, 2015 at Pine Island United Methodist Church, 5107 Pine Island Road NW, Bokeelia, FL 33922 with Pastor Charles Shaver officiating. The Family will receive friends from 5:00PM until the hour of service.
