James E Smith

James E. “Sonny” Smith, 85, a resident of Estero & Cape Coral, FL for the past 17 years, formerly of Hendersonville, TN passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in Cape Coral. He was born December 5, 1931 in Nashville, TN to Jesse and Mary Smith, now deceased.

Sonny was the youngest of nine children and a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 572 for 60 years. He was a United States Navy veteran who actively served from 1951 – 1955.

He is survived by three loving children, Mike Smith (Karen) of Cape Coral, Craig Smith (Kim) of Gallatin, TN and David Smith (Tammy) of Bowling Green, KY; sister, Margaret Callis of Madison, TN; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Ty, Ashley, Bailey, Riley, Allison and Alexandra; as well as three great grandchildren, Hudson, Aniston and Maddox.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Smith.

No formal services are planned at this time.
