Kathleen Ruth Morris
Kathleen Ruth Morris, 70, passed away at her Punta Gorda, FL home with her family at her side on August 21, 2015 after battling cancer. She was born March 12, 1945 on the Sampson Naval Base, Sampson, NY to Richard and Lily Phillips, now deceased.
Kathleen was raised in Valley Stream, NY where she graduated from Central High School in 1963. She went on to marry James Savage and raised her family in West Babylon, NY while working as a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital for 30 years. Kathleen later married Bryan Morris and relocated to Rhode Island. After Mr. Morris’ passing Kathleen retired to Burnt Store Marina, Punta Gorda. She was an excellent cook, an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed her many friendships in the community.
She is survived by her two beloved children, Julianna Gallo and James Savage; two grandchildren, Christina and Lily; one sister, Christine Brunner and husband Frank; one niece, Kathleen Mclvor ; one nephew, Brian Brunner; as well as her great nieces and nephew. Kathleen is also survived by her companion, Richard East whom the family would like to thank and acknowledge for his support and care during her long battle.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 12175 Stringfellow Rd, Bokeelia, FL 33922 with Father Michael Hughes officiating.
A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held 2:30 PM, Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Cass Cay Restaurant, Burnt Store Marina, 3200 Matecumbe Key Rd, Punta Gorda, FL 33955.
