Subscription Update Obituary

Ray E. Erdmann, 95, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2013, formerly of Detroit and Marquette, MI, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in Cape Coral. He was born November 21, 1921 in Detroit, MI to Gustav and Gertrude Erdmann, now deceased.

Ray was a World War II Veteran earning 2 Bronze Stars in addition to numerous medals and ribbons while serving overseas. Ray was a member of the VFW serving as an officer with Detroit Police & Fire Post 1278 in Michigan. Ray was a Detroit Firefighter for 30 years retiring as a Captain. He loved to travel the world, outdoor sports especially deer hunting with his son-in-law Richard, late nephew Floyd and son Kirk.  He also loved going to the Boyk Cottages and riding his Sea Doo with Karen, Ralph and granddaughter Jessica. Ray especially looked forward to the lunches with Jeanne & Mike when they came to Florida to visit him.  Ray was a member of the Southwest Florida Military Museum and the German American Social Club of Cape Coral where he loved to dance with his special friends Suzanne and Debbie. His presence will be missed by friends and family alike.

He is survived by three loving children, Shirley Seidl (Richard) of Cape Coral, Kirk Erdmann of Port Huron, MI, and Judie Buchan (Greg) of Lakeland, FL, four step-children, Karen Boyk (Ralph), Janice Jakel (Richard), Kelly Ross, Jeanne Paulson (Mike); as well as 12 grandchildren, Kenneth, Donald, Kirk, Jr., Laura, Sean, Noah, Jessica, Lindsay, Sara, Jerid, Jason, Melissa, and 14 greatgrandchildren.

Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Edwards Erdmann and his second wife, Ruth Kelly Ross Erdmann.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date at Sarasota National Cemetery. Details to be announced via www.MullinsMemorial.com
