Robert “Doug” Hagan

April 24, 1939 - April 29, 2017

Robert Douglas (Doug) Hagan died Saturday, April 29, 2017, at his home on Pine Island, Florida, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was 78.

Born April 24, 1939, Doug grew up in Piqua, Ohio, and graduated from Piqua High School and Ohio Northern University. He and his beloved wife, Chrissie, raised their family in Louisville, Kentucky. After a long and successful management career in the long haul trucking business, he owned and operated a Midas Muffler and Brake shop in Frankfort, Kentucky. Following retirement, he and Chrissie moved to their home in Southwest Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Chrissie (Statler) Hagan, their four children, George Hagan (Judy), Betsy Rhein (Brad), Bob Hagan (Michelle), and John Hagan (Debbie), eight grandchildren, Allie Hagan, Chelsea Yoder (Jay), Mitchell Rhein, Blake Rhein, Tyler Hagan, Connor Hagan, Diana Hagan, and Jack Hagan as well as his brothers Tom Hagan and Joe Hagan. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mildred Hagan and a sister, Marsha Hagan.

Doug enjoyed trains, classic cars, family poker games, captaining his boat, traveling, spending time with family, and dining out with his many fellow Ohio-Pine Island snowbirds. He was an avid University of Louisville Cardinals fan. He held season football tickets for many years and loved arm chair coaching football and basketball games.

A celebration of his life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at The Orrmont Estate, 1612 S. Main Street, Piqua, Ohio 45356.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, Florida 33908.
