Robert W. Darrell

Robert William Darrell, 74, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 47 years, formerly of Long Island, NY, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in Cape Coral. He was born April 4, 1943 in Flushing, Queens, NY to Raymond Walter and Dora Colonnello, now deceased.

Robert was in the U.S. Air Force. He was such an amazing man. He had so many talents and accomplishments throughout his life. In high school he held records for high bar, weight lifting and rope climbing. He created and patented the first BIGFOOT game. He won poetry contests and even has poetry published in the Library of Congress. He also painted many paintings as well as created sculptures from natural materials like rocks, sand, wood and shells. Created one of a kind jewelry from scrap jewelry and miscellaneous items. So smart and witty, especially as a creative character of political humor. His voice was melodious. Such a multifaceted man of talents. He was loved and will be truly missed and never forgotten…

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Dianne Darrell of Cape Coral; four loving children, Lisa Nicole Darrell of Cape Coral, Laura Michael Darrell also of Cape Coral, Steven Darrell of Tamarac, FL and Colleen Ann Darrell of Fort Lauderdale, FL; sisters, Joan O’Connell of St. James City, FL and Lorraine Smith of Punta Gorda, FL; as well as six grandchildren, William Vito Polozzolo, Michael Robert Darrell, Ivy Gayle Darrell, Joshua Anthony Darrell, Mackenzie Darrell and Taylor Darrell.

Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Darrell.

Private viewing for immediate family will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately after viewing in Daughter Lisa Darrell’s home.
