Thomas Mercado

Thomas Mercado, 56, a resident of Ft.Myers for the past twelve years, formerly of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 in Ft.Myers. He was born March 16, 1958 in Brooklyn, NY.

Thomas was of the Christian faith with the Outreach Ministries of Ft.Myers. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. He was an Army Veteran with an extensive knowledge and structure in the alarm and security business. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, friend and neighbor. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was a great man with a big heart, he will truly be missed by his family and friends. We promise to carry on his contagious smile and try to have as big of a heart as he did.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 28 years, Awilda Mercado of Ft. Myers; mother, Margaret Sciuro; five children, Crystal Mercado of NY, Thomas Mercado Jr (Jeanine Morales) of NY, Lynette Mercado (Jorge Santini) of Puerto Rico, Alexander Mercado (Lacey Jones) of Ft. Myers and Frankie Mercado (Melinda Perez) of TX; two brothers, Frank Mercado of NY and David Alvarado (Miriam) of Davenport, FL; one sister, Caralyn Mercado (David Rivera) of NY; six grandchildren, Justina, Xavier, Analysse, Veronica, Davier and Jason; and his mother-in-law, Ana F. Lopez of Puerto Rico.

Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Mercado and three siblings, Nicholas, Alexander and Veronica Mercado.

A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Masterpiece Church, 9530 Buckingham Road, Fort Myers, FL 33905 with Pastor Jaime Taveras officiating.
