Benito Iglesias

February 14, 1924 - November 4, 2020

Benito Iglesias, 96, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 27 years, formerly of Miami Beach, FL, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in Cape Coral. He was born February 14, 1924 in Havana, Cuba to Joaquin and Fermina Iglesias, now deceased.

Benito was of Catholic Faith. As a young man, he studied accounting and later became a CPA in Cuba.  Once in The United States, he worked to learn the language and earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida International University.  He was a happy family man that didn’t meet anyone he didn’t love.  He will be remembered by his family and friends as the ultimate jokester, always happy and very loving, was never too busy to lend a helping hand.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. 

He is survived by his second wife of close to 30 years, Amparo Mir of Cape Coral, FL; daughter, Maria Sales of Boca Raton, FL; son-in-law, Luis Avellana of Miami, FL; eight grandchildren, Katya, Drian, Suzy, Ethan, Marcus, Ransom, Luis, and Danny; as well as twelve great grandchildren, Rebecca, Christopher, Devon, Kali, Kori, Luis, Austin, Yvonne, Thomas, Alaire, Easton, and Avey

Benito was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolina Iglesias; a brother, Joaquin Iglesias; as well as his daughter, Yvonne Avellana and step daughter through his marriage with Amparo, Gisele Noble.

Funeral Services will be held 2:30 PM Friday, November 6, 2020 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33916 with Dr. Keith Krueger officiating.
