Betty Marie Sarkis
Betty Marie Sarkis, age 72, entered God’s Kingdom peacefully on March 22, 2020. Betty was surrounded by family and friends. She was born September 9, 1947 in Tuxedo, NY to her mother Millicent Hilda Smith, and her father Roland A. Smith; both of whom have preceded her in death.
Betty worked for the State Attorney’s Office for 33 years. She was also a resident of Ft. Myers/Cape Coral, FL for 42 years. During her time in Florida she made many connections. She was an active member at The Guiding Light Community Church in North Ft. Myers, FL. Countless days were spent working on projects or simply having fun with other members of the church congregation. In addition, Betty adored spending time with her family and traveling to see those she was closest too. She always had an adventurous spirit and knew just how to make everyone happy. Betty truly was selfless. Her hobbies were crafting, camping, spending time in the sun at the pool, partaking in community/church events, and visiting with family and friends.
Betty married her love, Edwin Sarkis, who preceded her in death in 2015. Her siblings, William A. Smith (brother), Doreen K. Lewis, Victoria J. Smith, Janet Mae Smith (sisters), and nephews, Michael Lewis and Jeffrey Smith all preceded her in death as well.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Craig J. Forster Jr. and Jill E. Forster of Fredericksburg, VA; her grandchildren, Jordan Forster Leake (along with husband Christopher J. Leake) of Tampa, FL and Cody J. Forster of Daytona, FL; her niece Cynthia Helt (daughter of sister Doreen), her nephew Billy Lewis (son of sister Doreen), her great niece and god daughter Erika Helt Thiessen, her beautiful great nieces Emma and Mia, and her niece Cynthia Hunter (daughter of sister Victoria) and her husband Keith. (All from New York)
Her wishes were to be cremated and placed at the same coordinates as her late Husband Edwin Sarkis in the ocean. Her family plans to honor these wishes. She did not request or want a memorial service. To those that loved Betty, her family asks that you always cherish her memory in your hearts. She was special to so many, and so many were special to her.
Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.
Betty was a very generous and gracious person. We so enjoyed playing Wii with her every month. We havw many happy memories of her. Love you Betty!!
What a beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady whom we had the pleasure of her friendship. Betty was tiny in size but what a huge and giving heart. Even on days when she wasn’t feeling her best she insisted on stopping at Publix to bring apple fritters and donuts to my husband’s Sunday school class. She had a ready smile and willingness to lend a hand at all of our church activities and her neighbor’s where she lived. She loved her family and particularly had great visits with them over the last year. She is healed and has gone onto glory but will live on in our hearts forever❤
Betty was a true friend. I loved her with my whole heart She was a faithful member of GLCC. She was Involved in many activities. She helped with the Wednesday night fellowship dinners. She was on the finance and church board. She was a member of the GL Women, the Great Banquet Lighthouse Reunion Group, Crafty Ladies, Secret Sister Prayer Ministry, Wii Bowling and Sunday morning Bible Study. Betty was a sweet, loving woman who loved the Lord. Betty was many things to many but most of all she was my friend
My prayers are with the family.

Betty was such a combination of seriousness and fun Her smile could always light up a room.I did not get to see her very much but she always welcomed me . You were a very special lady, whom I shall never forget. ” Go rest high on the mountain, your work on earth is done” You will now see Jesus face to face. I’ll see you again, but will miss you til then. Betty
Betty, my heart is heavy today because I will miss your smile, the twinkle in your eye, and the humility you showed to everyone around you. You were so easy to love! I did not get to have much time with you here on earth, but it took no time at all for me to see how much you loved the Lord. I am happy for you. He has freed you from the pain and suffering, You are home.
With Love From…..Mary Ann
