Bonita “Bonnie” Jean Nottingham

September 29, 1938 - March 1, 2021

Bonita “Bonnie” Jean Nottingham, 82, a resident of Lee County, FL since 1945, formerly of Columbus, OH, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 in North Fort Myers. She was born September 29, 1938, to Harold and Olive Hager, now deceased.

Bonnie was a devoted wife and a loving mother to four children, but she was also the neighborhood Mom, the Little League Mom, the Pop Warner Mom, the funny sister, the cool aunt, grandma… and the list goes on. She had an enormous heart; she always went that extra mile for people. Every kid in the neighborhood knew if you heard her 6 o’clock dinner whistle it meant it was dinnertime at the Nottingham’s, and there was always room at the table. She was a safe harbor in countless lives, the heart of her family. Bonnie inspired generations of children with her kindness and encouragement, she just made you want to be a better person. Her intelligence and easy laugh made her friends easily, but it was her beautiful spirit that kept those friends for a lifetime. Bonnie loved her siblings; they were her first friends, and they were her best friends. She cherished every one of her nieces and nephews and their children. The lessons she has taught through being a lifetime living example of strength, kindness and generosity will be passed down for generations.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James Nottingham, Sr. of North Fort Myers; children, Jim Nottingham of North Fort Myers, Mark Nottingham (Teresa) of Cape Coral, FL, Dale Nottingham (Jayne) of TN, and Valarie Storm of FL; two siblings, David Hager of TN, and Karen Liles (Edward) of FL; seven grandchildren, Clinton, Johnny, Tara, Cody, Brittany, Shelby and Mason; great grandchildren, Carter, and Bradley; several nieces and nephews; as well as Mitzi the Chihuahua.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her siblings, Jack Hager, Judy Sibley, and Nancy Madden.
