Brenda Joyce Brown

January 9, 1941 - June 22, 2021

Brenda Joyce Brown, 80, a resident of Lehigh Acres, FL since 1988, formerly of Rock Hill, SC, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 in Fort Myers, FL. She was born January 9, 1941 in Rock Hill, SC to John and Margie Morrison, now deceased.

Brenda was of the Christian faith. Brenda Brown was a kindhearted, and very loving woman. She was a lighthouse for many to find their way through life’s storms. She enjoyed all sorts of crafting throughout her life. Most recent of which included creating stained glass masterpieces and knitting. She sewed all her life and could make and fix anything to do with cloth and clothing. She always had an idea of how to make something look better or be more functional. She was a phlebotomist for LabCorp, Covance, and Piedmont hospital in Lancaster, South Carolina. Her bedside manner, professionalism, and personality allowed her to work so long in serving others in the community to make a living and support her family. She was a very good phlebotomist who could draw blood in the most painless fashion, all her patients and coworkers loved her. Brenda also worked in the billing department shortly with LabCorp and returned to phlebotomy. She was filled with curiosity and a deep spirituality that she expressed by her actions and attitude towards others. She was very big on manners, and how she raised her children should reflect in their actions and she would let them know if it did not meet her standards.

Brenda loved to try new and interesting restaurants. She was always growing or rooting some kind of plant. There was always flowers blooming around the house. She loved hanging out with her daughter and grandson and going out to fun events. They have gone to see many stage shows, the circus, botanical gardens, flea markets, baseball games, carnivals, and festivals. In her youth she loved roller skating and ice skating. Her dad would take her on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Brenda later in life continued to serve her community in Lehigh acres at the Senior Center. She worked at the front desk and handled member relations. Everyone came to know Brenda by her always smiling face, her no bull-shit attitude, and her poise. Brenda was an extremely strong woman with values that helped her be there for others, her marriage, her children, grandchildren, and keep her family together and safe. She always said two things no matter what, “I love you”, and “be careful”. She was always there for her family. Others can only pray for her strength. She also enjoyed strawberry milkshakes from Dairy Queen, Publix chicken, and Wendy’s Baconators! She had a huge crush on Elvis Presley, and she always wanted to go to Dollywood. Her favorite holiday was Christmas.

She is survived by two loving children, John D’Amanda (Linda) of Texas, and Cheryl Brown of Lehigh Acres; as well as two grandchildren, Chris Brown (Amy) of Lehigh Acres, and Nathan Kirson (Kirstyn) of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Brown in 2002.

I always referred to Brenda as my “bulldog at the front desk”. The short time working with her at the Senior Center has been a blessing. She was so very good at her job. I never had worry about dealing with the insignificant things as she screened everything and everyone. No one got past Brenda if it wasn’t necessary. Thank you Brenda for all the laughs and your wisdom. You will be forever in my heart. I miss you and love you my dear!

She will be truley missed. She could always put a smile on your face through the worst of times. I can remember her working side by side with me for 3 days at the lab without air condition. We made the best of it Barreling through a day of non-stop patients, when there was no help! She had such a unique personality. Will miss you friend!!

Worked with Brenda at LabCorp for many years, we all loved her and was a great person to talk to, Everytime I would see Brenda she always asked how my family and kids are, she truly cared about others, we enjoyed when she would stop in LabCorp in Lehigh, and now we could wait on her after all the years of her waiting on everyone else.. We will miss you, very sad to hear about her passing. 💜
