Bruce Scott Milne

December 30, 1956 - July 16, 2020

Bruce Scott Milne, 63, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2016, formerly of Middleburg Heights, OH, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020 in Cape Coral. He was born December 30, 1956 in Cleveland, OH to Donald and Louise Milne, now deceased.

Bruce was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral.  He attended Midpark High School and graduated in 1975.  He was a competitive swimmer and swam with many clubs and at Midpark.  When Midpark closed in 2013 he still held the record for the 400 free relay with three other swimmers.  He attended The Ohio State University.  Bruce worked at Manco Tape for 25 years and then Clark Reliance for 8 years.  He collected eagle statues and coins and he loved keeping his yard looking perfect.  He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan, which was why he had to have DirecTV when he moved to Florida so that he could watch his home teams.  He was truly a grumpy old man but also had a great sense of humor and a heart of gold.  He always looked out for the kids and any neighbors that needed his help.  He loved his naps!

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Kim Milne of Cape Coral; three loving children, Jamie Milne (Mark Zivkovich) of Brook Park, OH, Jessica Milne of Cape Coral, and Jared Milne (Angela) of Parma Heights, OH; as well as a sister, Joan Daniels (Larry) of Ypsilanti, MI.

Bruce was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. David Milne.

A memorial service will be held in Ohio, but a date has not been set at this time.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Bruce Scott Milne are suggested to the Harry Chapin Food Bank, 3760 Fowler St., Fort Myers, FL 33901.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

Bruce is truly missed here on our street in Middleburg Heights. He was a great neighbor and family man. Don’t think we ever saw him in a pair of pants. He always had on a pair of shorts even in the deepest of coldest days in the winter! Sending our deepest sympathy and prayers. May Bruce rest in peace!

    Dear Kim,
My sincere sympathy to you and your family! I never saw Bruce as a grumpy old man, rather a fun and generous man who loved his kids and his Cleveland sports! May fun memories help you through this difficult time.

So very very sorry for your loss. We go back many years, as you well know. Then reunited when our boys started sports in our city & began attending school. Many memories. I can still remember 1 pair of shorts that seemed to be Bruce’s favorite! He did make people smile! Our thoughts & prayers are with you & your family. Bruce will be greatly missed. May he Rest In Peace & I’m sure he’ll be watching over all of you.

Kim: I am so very sorry this has happened. He was so great, even though I met him only a few times, just the way you talked about him revealed how much you guys meant to one another. I am sending every thought of peace and strength over the next year. I know it will not be easy. I know there will be both good and bad days with a wish for more good and that on the bad you call me-I promise to make you laugh. A virtual hug to you and the kids (can we still call them kids)?

Bruce was the older brother of my Best Friend, David, which made him a friend of mine. Bruce was a kind, very private guy, But could make us laugh.. He loved his family and loved the Browns, what more could you ask of a man.
You tell your mom and dad I said hi and you tell my Buddy Dave that I love and miss him. God Bless!

I am so sorry to hear of Bruce’s passing. I worked with Bruce at Manco, and thought the world of him. We would have to talk a lot at work as our jobs inter-connected, and he was such a nice guy. He acted gruff at times, but underneath he was a big old softie. I was sorry when he left there. If I had to describe Bruce in one word, the word is genuine. I am sorry for all of his family. Kim, he would often talk about you, and his love for you was obvious. I will keep Bruce and his family in my prayers.
