Carl Vincent Ream

September 24, 1955 - April 30, 2020

Carl Vincent Ream, 64, a resident of Naples, FL for the past 22 years passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020 in Naples, FL. He was born September 24, 1955 in Urbana, OH to Richard and Lois (Pfaff) Ream, now deceased.

Carl was a spiritual person, raised in the Catholic community. He was the most community oriented person you ever met. Whether it was his grandson calling him “Peepaw”, his nephews calling him “Uncle Weenie”, or most people just calling him “friend”. Carl was a proponent of education and was always pushing his kids harder; the older two both have advanced degrees in their fields while Kasie has recently begun her college career. Carl was never at Thanksgiving because the biggest satisfaction in life was his role in feeding several hundred individuals at the Immokalee Friendship House and he could always be found finding opportunities to feed others wherever he could. Whether it was as a grocery store bag boy, manager, or distributor, feeding others was always his goal.

He is survived by three loving children, Tara Moser, husband Geoffrey and grandson Bryce of Cape Coral, FL; Gregory Ream of Cape Coral, FL; and, Kasie Ream of Naples, FL; two sisters, Julie Brazzell of Norfolk, VA; and Rachael Ream, husband Matthew Simmons of Bend, OR; three nieces and two nephews; as well as four great nieces and two great nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details to be announced via www.MullinsMemorial.com

Memorial Contributions in memory of Carl Vincent Ream are suggested to The Friendship House, 602 Main St., Immokalee, FL 34142 or Pawsitive Kid’s Camp, 3723 Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral, FL 33904.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

My deepest condolences to Carl’s family. I was lucky enough to have known Carl since our Kroger days back in Ohio in the ’80s. We were able to visit several times after he moved South. Carl was the touchstone for my daughter when she moved to Naples a few years ago.I have never known a more passionate and loving human being. He was 100% all about his kids. Kasie made him feel young again even when his body was scoffing at him. My heart aches, but he is receiving his just reward for a life well lived. Rest in Peace, my dear friend.

Carl was such an extraordinary force for good in this world. He was so very loving and kind, gentle and wise, strong and caring. These traits led him to feed the world in as many ways as he could, whether it was dressing as Santa and gathering volunteers to help families through hard times, helping feed and clothe a small family, or gather donations and volunteers to give those in need a full Thanksgiving dinner, or doing his job so well to help farmers get their food to people.
Carl loved his family above all else. I heard many wonderful stories. I was so happy to get to know Kasie when she was here on different visits and talk to her occasionally on the phone.
Carl, you brought me out of a dark place in my life and showed me there was still beautiful light. You are very much missed and so very loved.
My prayers and love are with your family, that they might find peace, comfort, and strength.

I just spoke with him last week. I’m so sorry for his children and family. He will be greatly missed. Can someone let me know how Ern and Hem are doing please. Tmvrr@hotmail.com Thank you. 💕🐾

My prayers and sympathy for the family and friends of Carl Ream. I haven’t seen Carl for thirty years but was fortunate to connect on FaceBook a few years ago. I first met Carl when I was a Kroger Store Manager in Urbana Ohio in the early 70’s. He was in high school and impressed me so much with his positive, can do attitude and had a special way of connecting to people. A few years later we worked together at the Westerville Kroger and again in the late 80’s at Kroger’s Florida Choice Stores. Carl will understandably be missed by all. There are few people as caring and thoughtful as the man young Carl became.

Carl was such a kind soul. I had the pleasure of knowing him when I worked for Kroger in the Vero Beach office. He always made me laugh. He would call the office and ask for “The Old Battle axe”. Everyone knew who that was. He got the nickname of “The Scandanavian Love God”. We really got a kick out of that one. He was one in a million. He will be missed by so many. I feel truly blessed to have know him. Rest in peace my friend. Until we meet again. My condolences go out to his family. God Bless

I am so sorry to hear of Carl’s passing. We worked together in North Fort Myers opening a new SuperX Food and Drugs (a Kroger affiliate) 36 years ago. Although Carl was my boss, I always felt more like his little brother. Just out of college and new to the grocery business I learned a lot from Carl in the few years we worked together. He always seemed to value my opinion even though I was just a rookie Co-Manager. I lost touch with Carl when we moved back to Northern Michigan, but thought of him often over the years. He is missed. Rest well my old friend.

I was so unbelievably saddened and shocked when I heard about Carl’s passing. It is such a loss to so many. I had the good fortune of meeting Carl some 26 years ago during Hurricane Andrew. He had helped get me through a very sad time in my life with his compassion and wisdom. Carl’s crazy, sometimes a little twisted, sense of humor would always bring a smile and some laughs. He was just an amazing man, so very generous and passionate about what he believed in. My heart so breaks for his family who he just adored. He was very proud of them all and loved to talk about all of their accomplishments. Carl has been a dear and special friend and there will always be a piece of him in my heart. ❤ He will truly be missed and never forgotten for all those who loved him. Till we meet again
