Carlton George Glenn, Sr.

February 22, 1942 - July 27, 2022

Carlton George Glenn, Sr., 80, a resident of St. James City, FL for the past 20 years, formerly of Ocean City, MD and Pennsville, NJ, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born February 22, 1942 in Salem, NJ to Emmett and Dorothy Glenn, now deceased.

Carlton was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church in St. James City. He retired from DuPont Chamber Works in Deepwater, NJ as an area specialist after 32 years of service. A year later, he and his wife, Jeanne opened and operated Smokers BBQ Pit in Ocean City, MD for 15 years.

He loved to reminisce about his adventures from years ago when he took his children and his first wife, Linda on summer camping vacations driving all over the U.S. by station wagon or Volkswagen Bus, missing only three states during those years. He was an avid fisherman going offshore 40-60 miles with friends and family in the “Meen Green”, his 25 foot boat.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Jeanne Glenn of St. James City; three loving children, Carlton Glenn, Jr. (Peggy) of Pennsville, NJ, Cheryl Glenn of Spring Hill, FL, and John Glenn (Jongdee) of Lake Charles, LA; brother, Bob Glenn (Rita) of Spring Hill; six grandchildren, Nicole Bryant (Chris), Christopher Glenn, Stacey Unverfehrt (Kyle), Andrew Glenn, Kyle Glenn, and Matthew Thomas; as well as six great grandchildren, Ophelia, Beau, Mika, Cameron, Mason, and Maddie.

Carlton was preceded in death by a sister, Ayleen Glenn; as well as a stepson, Kenny Shockley.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at First Baptist Church, 3417 Eighth Ave., St. James City, FL 33956 with Pastor Larry Jinks officiating.

    I have known Carl all my life from Pennsville to Pine Island. Not only a great businessman and fisherman but a beautiful woodworker. I will miss his smile and great hugs. You are finally pain free.

    Carl was tough as nails boss and fairs as the come. I worked with him on a special project at DuPont. He handpicked me to help him. I think I made him happy with his choice. RIP Carl
