Cinda Lou Curry

August 12, 1953 - November 29, 2020

Cinda Lou Curry, 67, a resident of Matlacha, FL since 2013, formerly of Elizabethtown, KY, and Bowie, MD, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020 in Cape Coral, FL. She was born August 12, 1953 in Belleville, IL.

Cinda was a veteran of the United States Navy, where she served as a Photographer’s Mate.  An avid gardener, she learned from books, trial and error, and other gardeners. Her skills were those of a master gardener, and she did all of the work herself. When she wanted a Koi pond, she grabbed a pickaxe and shovel, and dug it by hand. Folks would come from all over to see her work, as she transformed three different yards into neighborhood showcases. Her cooking skills matched those of her gardening, and her multi-course meals rivaled those of a four star restaurant, with everything made from scratch. She did not do anything half-way. But her greatest gift was her open, friendly personality. Everybody loved her, and there was nothing she would not do for the people she cared about.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Conrad Curry of Matlacha; loving mother, Kathryn Shriner of Cape Coral; two loving children, Michelle Newlon of Cape Coral, and Christopher Curry (Beth) of Elizabethtown, KY; as well as four grandchildren, Xander Martin, Jake Newlon, Devin Curry, and Cohen Curry.

Cinda was preceded in death by her father, Richard Shriner.

Private family services will be held.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Cinda Lou Curry are suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Cinda and her loving husband for many years and can’t think of a nicer woman. As a Master Gardener myself (Texas), I’m jealous of her work and expertise not to mention her kindness. She will be dearly missed. Rest in Peace Cinda.

So very sorry for the loss of your beloved Cinda. I so enjoyed picures of her gardens over the years. Conrad, you and the family hold on to each other during these trying and difficult times and try to find some solace in all the beauty she left behind. Know that all your friends feel your grief and you are not alone at this sad time.

Cinda was one of those people who put her all into her passions; gardening, cooking, friends and family. We feel fortunate to have known her., always the warm hostess. Conrad and Cinda had a special partnership, and it was beautiful to witness. A life to be celebrated. Pat and Ed Lanham

Oh my goodness. I’ve searched over the years looking for Cinda & here I find her. We were high school buddies with two other gals. Lost touch after graduation when she enlisted. I’m so sorry for her loss. I would have loved to reconnect with her. She was a beautiful person & so fun to be with.
