CMSgt Richard “Rick” Charles Turcic, USAF (Ret.)

CMSgt Richard “Rick” Charles Turcic, USAF (Ret.) 71, of Punta Gorda, FL, died Sunday, April 4, 2021, in Naples, FL. 

Rick was born January 11, 1950, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Charles Andrew and Irene Elizabeth (Jackson) Turcic. Rick served in the United States Air Force for 24 years, achieving the highest non-commissioned rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Upon retirement from the Air Force, Rick went to work for the State of Alaska and, later, the United States Forest Service. A long-time resident of Eagle River, AK, he moved to Punta Gorda in 2016.

As a young man, Rick was an accomplished member of the Pittsburgh Junior Tamburitzans. He grew up attending Cobden Street Baptist Church with his grandparents. As an adult, Rick’s passions included fishing, attending stock car races and racing stock cars online.  

Rick is survived by two loving sons, Christian Turcic (Sara) of Chugiak, AK, and Jamey Turcic (Kerrie) of Clermont, FL; and his loving sister, Wendy Hingson and best friend, David Hingson of Cape Coral, FL. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Savannah, Jonathan, Braden, Makenzie and Karsen Turcic, and Aaron, Anthony and Alexynn Hurd; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; as well as his son, Jon Charles Turcic.

Private military services are planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks those wishing to honor Rick’s life to make a donation in his name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a charity he held dear to his heart. St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

    i never met him in person but spoke with him online for almost 15 years almost everyday…its still a shock..he was such a good man..kind caring helpful and tempermental…when i go race i still expect him to show up…perhaps someday well do it again…i lost a friend others lost more…i took him for granted like most would…its not till people are lost that you realize how much they mean…you expect them to be their till they arent…its sad,…

    Wow, too many ole friends passing on. Worked for Rick many years in the Air Force both at Little Rock AFB and again at Elmendorf AFB AK. Miss you Rick, we loose too many too fast. Forever in my mind and praying for your family. Fred
