Cole, You are so missed. I can only get comfort in knowing you are with your brother, your father, your Grandma Goodwin and Grandpa Goodwin, and tearin’ it up with Trey. I’m sure the preacher will also give you a hug. It was meant to be. Cole wrote “if there is a God I believe he lives in the smiles of those I love, in their love and unconditional hope, and in each breath of air. God is pure energy, telling me I can free myself if I just ask him for strength and try to better myself”. This keeps playing in my head, and I can’t help but think you are putting it there… Thank Heaven! The crisis, The danger, is past, The lingering illness Is over at last And the fever called “living” Is conquered at last. E.O. Poe – Annie

One of Cole’s most beautiful poems The Tree Sewn into the darkness I reach up to the light Faith and love to harvest Until I gain my sight Like a leaf I tremble In black cold winds of night The sun is now my temple It’s rays are burning bright In it I found solace The strength to grow up strong While roots give me balance To face what’s right and wrong Life is sometimes painful And hope will often fade While faith goes on forever We suffer or we change The scars upon my limbs And past that left me torn I touch the summer skies And I am now reborn Cole Hollis Goodwin May 21, 2017

Another one lost too young. God saved him liked he saved our son. I wish it wasn’t like this. Too much suffering. But I also see hope. May Cole’s story help others stay strong. Pat, God has our boys. They are safe. May your faith carry you through this dark time. We have beautiful memories of the wonderful young men they were.

Brokenhearted to hear of Coles death…I witnessed his successful road to recovery and he was special, going forward with so many gifts to share. My sympathy to his family and close friends. He is in my thoughts.
