Dan Harvey Dameron

June 30, 1951 - August 29, 2022

Dan Harvey Dameron, 71, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 11 years, formerly of Crofton, MD, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022 in Fort Myers, FL. He was born June 30, 1951 in Washington, DC to Ballard and Grace Dameron, now deceased.

Dan was of the Christian faith and attended Skyline Church in Cape Coral. Dan was a great man of faith. He was the eldest of 4 brothers (Wayne, David and Steve, who preceded him in death). Dan refereed high school football for 25 years and loved working with the referees, coaches and students. He received his Bachelor degree from the University of Maryland in system analysis and received his master’s degree from George Washington University. Dan and I met in 1981 when we sang in a community singing group. I went home that night and told my cousin, that I met the man I was going to marry. We began dating in August 1981, got engaged on February 16, 1982 and were married in Buffalo, NY on August 28, 1982. The ironic thing about getting married in Buffalo is that Buffalo was Dan’s nickname.

We adopted 3 beautiful daughters Dan was an awesome father to all the girls. He was there whenever they needed him. He went to our daughter, Kelli’s dance competitions and would sit and cheer her on. He worked for Pepco, the electric company in Washington, DC for 35 years as a system analysist. He played on their softball team for many years. He crossed paths again at Pepco with his first-grade friend, Dave Dixon. Dave was our best man in our wedding. Dave has been there for the girls and I.

I want Dan to be  remembered as a loving husband of 40 years, an incredible father to our 3 girls., a great friend who would do anything for them

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Maria Dameron of Cape Coral; children, Danielle Dameron of Cape Coral, Kimberly Dameron of Fort Myers, and Kelli Dameron of Cape Coral; brothers, Wayne Dameron (Sharon) of TX, and David Dameron of MD; grandchildren, Ben Brown, and Zach Brown; as well as best friend of 65 years, Dave Dixon.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Skyline Church, 717 Skyline Blvd, Cape Coral, FL 33991.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

I have you all in my prayers. May God provide a comforting spirit that takes away the pain of losing a sweet love one. Lean on the verse, 2 Cor 5:8, that to be absent here it to be present with the Lord. Knowing that Dan was saved brings an added comfort. He is dancing with the Lord….how sweet that must be?!?!

Dan was a wonderful man, and we were so blessed to know him. We will never forget his smile and the way he loved to serve whenever he could. Such a talented and brilliant mind! Your story together is so inspiring and we know he is waiting for his beloved family and friends on the other side! God bless you all, and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers!

Dan and I had a friendship that lasted 65 years from 1st grade till today. We worked at PEPCO for the Civil and Substation Engineering Dept. They had a great intramural sports league. We enjoyed softball, football and basketball, as well as, their golf course. Dan was my best Man in Iowa in 1976. I was honored to return the favor when Dan married Maria in New York.
Even though the years had us go in different parts of the US we still spoke at least twice a year … Dan’s Birthday and Left handers Day. I would also reach out if a hurricane 🌀 came close to close to Dan and Maria’s home.
Even though Dan’s body decline in recent years he still had dreams of hiking the Appalachian Trail and driving out to Texas.
I included a picture when Dan was my Best Man! 🤠

I worked, car pooled and was friends with Dan for MANY years while we worked at Pepco. My wife Deb and I were shocked, as well as very saddened when learning of Dan’s passing. After retiring in 2004, I only kept up with Dan by occasional posts on FB …… his move to Florida and events with his family. I was carpooling with Dan when he and Maria started the process of adoption of their first daughter Daniele, and had no doubt that they would be great parents and would grow a wonderful family. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Maria and the girls.
