Dana Gerald Killam, M.D.

November 12, 1947 - January 23, 2015

Dana Gerald Killam, M.D., 67, of North Fort Myers, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born November 12, 1947 in Inchon, Korea.
Dr. Killam was of the Christian faith and was a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician. He received both his undergraduate degree and his Medical Degree from the University of Massachusetts. Dana proudly served in the U.S. Army where he was the Airborne Group Surgeon providing the primary medical support for the Fifth Special Forces GP and the U.S. Navy Seals. Dr. Killam was extremely proud of his service to his country as well as the medical services he provided throughout his career to the men and women who also served our country.

After leaving the Army, Dana brought his medical expertise to the State of Florida where he provided emergency medical services to Floridians from all walks of life and in counties and cities throughout the state. Dana loved taking care of people and he was never too busy to spend the time necessary to improve their health. He was a gifted diagnostician and studied continuously to make sure he stayed at the top of his game. Most recently, he provided medical services at Accident and Urgent Care Center in Cape Coral, FL. For those of us who were the recipients of his healing hands and kindness, his passing leaves a great void.

In addition to his love of medicine, Dana loved geography, physics, history and aviation. This love of history and aviation led Dana to be a collector and pilot of vintage aircraft, most recently a Stinson, an aircraft built from 1920 through the 1950’s in Dayton, Ohio.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Julia Killam; his father, Floyd Killam (Ruby); six children, Elliot, Elias, Kimberly, Christopher, Carrie (Anthony) and Amy; four siblings, Shirley, Leslie, Steven and Everett; five grandchildren, Chloe, Victoria, Logan, Isaiah and Jimmy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
