Derrick John Silva

December 5, 1978 - January 29, 2021

Derrick John Silva, 42, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 1987, formerly of Hull, MA, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 in Cape Coral. He was born December 5, 1978 in Stoughton, MA. to John and Katherine Silva.

Derrick was of the Catholic faith. He was a loving father, an amazing boyfriend, and a great friend to everyone around him. He brought light to everyone he came into contact with. He was very giving, and always offered to help anyone who needed it. Derrick always gave the best advice, he was always a level-headed person, and someone to count on. Derrick will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Ivy Silva of Cape Coral, FL; longtime companion, Jessica Miller of Cape Coral, FL; father, John Silva of New Bedford, MA; sister, Kelley Silva of New Bedford, MA; two brothers, Brendan Silva of Cape Coral, FL and Jammie Silva of New Bedford, MA; two step children, Stacia Miller and Maxwell Miller, both of Cape Coral, FL as well as a large and loving extended family.

Derrick is preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Silva; brother, Patrick Silva and sister, Melanie Rheinheimer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

    i love you so much daddy. i’m gonna miss you a lot and i don’t know what to do. i’m so lost and i just wish i could see you again, i wish i could’ve saw you before this happened and i’m so sorry that this even happened to you. you were a great dad and i’m so glad we were as close as we were, everyone keeps telling me you talked about me all the time, and you were so proud of me & i know you were. i really hope i’ll get to see you again. i’m sorry that you had to leave so soon.     Derrick was my Nephew, I was there the day he was born. Since that day he has always been a shinning light in the Silva family, as well as for anyone who has gotten to know him well. I love you Drerrick and you will always be in my heart. God Bless his Daughter Ivy.

    Sitting here in shock!!!! Derrick was such a loving, funny, amazing man. And I will miss him dearly.
    Too Ivy my dear, it’s going to be hard for a awhile, just know that as time passes it’s hurts less. I’ve lost both my parents. His memory lives on in you.
