Donald R. Morrow

September 7, 1932 - June 6, 2019

Donald Reed Morrow, 86, a resident of Cape Coral, FL. since 1985, formerly of Lima, OH, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 in Cape Coral. He was born September 7, 1932 in Lorain, OH, and grew up in Sebring, OH, where he married Maxine Heverly in 1952.

Donald was employed with Western Union in Xenia, OH, where he and Maxine began their family. In 1968, the family moved to Lima, OH, where Donald began working as a music therapist with the mentally ill at Lima State Hospital. In 1985, Donald and Maxine relocated to Cape Coral where he continued his music therapy at Ruth Cooper Center until he retired.

Donald will be most remembered by his love of music and teaching. He spent many years teaching young people how to play and appreciate percussion. He was also a big performer and entertainer at various venues in all of the cities in which he lived. One of his proudest accomplishments was helping to establish the Lima Area Concert Band.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Maxine Heverly Morrow of Cape Coral; two loving children, Karen Stanton of Cape Coral and Jeff Morrow (Linda) of Copper Hill, TN; eight grandchildren, Charlotte Morrow Haughwout (Ken) of Canton, GA, Tammy Morrow Dammeyer (Scott) of Vandalia, OH, James Morrow (Kathleen) of Woodstock, IL, Scott Morrow (Bethany) of Carmel, IN, Alicia Stanton Turner of Plattsmouth, NE, Courtney Stanton Stroka (Chris) of Cape Coral, Michele Wyche Dotson (Tyson) of Cape Coral, and Melanie Wyche Reaves (Jason) of Cape Coral; twenty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Iva Pearl Morrow; a son, Donald Morrow, Jr; sisters, Marybelle Reader and Juanita Iden; brothers, Harold Morrow and Brady Morrow.

Memorial Services will be held 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Mullins Memorial Funeral Home, 1056 NE 7th Terrace, Cape Coral, Fl. 33909. Family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 PM.
