Donald Robert Bennett, Sr.

Donald “Don” Robert Bennett, Sr., 86, a resident of North Fort Myers, FL since 1981, formerly of North Miami Beach, FL, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020 in North Fort Myers. He was born May 9, 1934 in New York, NY to William and Mary Bennett, now deceased.

Donald was a former NFL football player for the NY Giants. He worked in the automobile business for 25 years with Toyota. Donald was an Exalted Ruler for the Elks Lodge 1228; Don loved the Elks. Golfing was his favorite pastime until an auto accident 11 years ago. He could no longer do the things he loved. He lived in North Fort Myers since 1984. His wife, Sandy worked as a home care aide and was a medical records clerk for the Lee County jail for nine years. She loved working three jobs and Don supported her in all that she did. She retired from her job to take care of Don. She was a wonderful wife and Don loved her very much.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Sandra Bennett of North Fort Myers; six children, Donna, Cathy, Chrissy, Don, Jr., Mary and Kevin; three stepchildren, John Cassetta, Debra Bustle, and Nicky Bustle; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; as well as two great great grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Ed; as well as his faithful friend, Clancy the dog.
