Donna Hendry Stanaland

April 11, 1944 - April 8, 2020

Donna Sue Hendry Stanaland went to her heavenly home on April 8, 2020 at the age of 75.

Donna is survived by her husband, Jackie “Captain Jack” Stanaland; her step-daughter, Melissa Thomas (“TW”); her granddaughters, Abigail and Megan; her sisters, Pearle H. Warren and Joanne H. Neubauer; her brother, William “Bill” Hendry (Pat); and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward Everett and Leah Crevasse Hendry; her brother, Edward “Ed” Hendry; and sisters, Irene H. Goulding and Bette H. Bollinger.

Donna was born in Ft. Myers, FL on April 11, 1944 to Edward Everett and Leah Crevasse Hendry. She attended Fort Myers Senior High School, then moved to Yokohama, Japan to graduate. After graduating high school, Donna returned to the United States and worked as an entrepreneur, making and selling vases and lamps, but her real passion was real estate. She practiced real estate in southern California and Ft. Myers, FL for almost 25 years, enjoying the one-on-one relationships that developed while putting buyers and sellers in homes of their dreams.

Donna and Jackie married on August 17, 1991. They lived a blessed and active life together for nearly 28 years, spending countless days on the water in Captain Jack’s boat, fishing and soaking up the warm Florida sunshine. Donna’s favorite activities and hobbies included: tennis, gardening, cooking, and walking and playing with her beloved dog, Lily-Peach. She also enjoyed pampering her ever-so-shy cat, Eddie-Pearle.

In her final days, Donna spent time thinking of others that have touched her life in a special way. She had a knack for sending beautifully handwritten notes to loved ones, sharing her faith and expressing her love. She planned to write some final notes, but could not find the strength, so undoubtedly, she passed peacefully consumed by thoughts of those near and dear to her.

A celebration of life has been postponed due to limitations on social gatherings at this time, but will be scheduled in the coming weeks. Condolences may be offered at 4830 Gulfgate Lane, St. James City, FL, 33956 (Jack Stanaland). Donations in Donna’s memory may be made to Lifeline Family Center, 907 SE 5th Ave, Cape Coral, FL 33990.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

A smile that could light up a room that will be missed! A courageous lady that fought a tough battle with dignity. But praise God she is in perfect health now and living in paradise!

My Dear Donna, You were one of the first persons I met when we came to the Cove and we hit it off right away. Although our time was always at the dog park they were always special. I always looked forward to seeing you there. You always had a very caring heart and I could talk to you about anything. I will always remember our little chats and notes. When I drive by your place I will always have fond memories of you. Rest in Heaven My Dear Donna.

Aunt Donna spoke so kindly of her tennis girls and church groups. She wanted to write final letters to all of you…I have not met most of you, but if you were a good friend of my sweet aunts, please know how much she treasured your friendship. SHE meant so much to so many and taught me how to live in faith. Many of you will see her again, I know she’ll be in Heaven waiting with open arms when you get there. She’ll be strong and ready for a serious tennis match! For now she is laughing with my dad, loving on her mom and dad, causing trouble with her sisters, and praising our Heavenly Father!

Donna Sue, so glad we went together for you to be baptized by Chuck Smith, at the south side of the Newport south jetty and now knowing you’re in the presence with the one Chuck Smith loved and taught about for so long, and now in the presence of Christ Himself in His fullness. And maybe even have seen Chuck by now too!

    God’s peace to all
    your friends and family.
