Donna Lavonne Herchenbach
Donna Lavonne Herchenbach, 74, a resident of Fort Myers, FL for the past ten years, formerly of Fox Lake, IL passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in Cape Coral, FL. She was born August 22, 1947 in Cincinnati, OH to Robert and Ethel Myers, now deceased. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Tony Herchenbach; her sisters Eddie, Laurie and brother Johnny.
Donna was of the Christian faith. She was baptized by Reverend Timothy Taylor of Fort Myers, Florida. Ma, loved Florida, animals and her family. The latest member of her extended family was a rescue, Lucy, who she adopted at the end stage of Lucy’s life as she was the ugliest dog at the shelter and she wanted to make sure she was saved. She walked Lucy often, usually leading by several yards. Donna saved and loved more animals than we can probably remember including cats, dogs, birds and even a tortoise. Always rescuing any animal, she could. Donna loved Florida, and no matter how many times she moved away from the state she always came back and was able to spend her last years in the sunshine and warm weather she loved. Donna was a devoted sister, who would help without being asked and kept a family photo treasure trove which was a gift to us all after she passed. As a mom Donna loved and asked for nothing in return, she wanted to not be a burden, and she never was. Thank you for all the love, the cookies, and all the animals you brought into our lives. Know that your love for animals and love for us is what we will carry with us.
She is survived by three loving children, Ryan Glenn Walker (Jeannette) of Olathe, KS, Kim Johnson (Gerry) of IL, and Gregory Scott Walker of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Casey, Kenny, Joey, Krista, Stephanie, Moriah, and Maddison; three great grandchildren, Cole, Kasen, and Hunter; four siblings, Jeannie Hoover of Mt. Vernon, OH, Gail Ragan of Easley, SC, Janna Pierce of OH, and David Myers (Elsie) of Cape Coral, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews in Tennessee, Florida, Ohio, Arizona and Illinois.
No formal services are planned at this time.
