Dr. Leon W. Margolin

April 26, 1923 - March 20, 2017

Dr. Leon Wolf Margolin, 93, a resident of Fort Myers for 3 years, formerly of Naples, FL and Vineland, NJ, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 in Ft. Myers. He was born on April 26, 1923 in Vineland, NJ to Nathan and Fanny Margolin, now deceased.

Dr. Leon graduated from VHS in 1940 and then went to Rutgers University College of Agriculture where he earned a BS degree. He then went to The University of Pennsylvania and graduated as a VMD in 1946. (Veterinarie Medicinae Doctoris). After a brief stint in The U.S. Army as a captain, he returned to Vineland where he established The Blue Cross Animal Hospital. He volunteered his services at the local ASPCA. He was an avid skier, traveler and consummate story teller. His love for animals was only surpassed by his love for his family. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Miriam Margolin of Ft. Myers; four loving children, Ilana Smith of Port Townsend, WA, Barbara Grunes of Venice, FL, Avi Margolin (Jo-Anne) of Boca Raton, FL, and Dr. Jay Margolin (Franky) of Ft. Myers; one sister, Jeannette Becker of Los Angeles, CA; as well as four grandchildren, Noah, Seth, Nathan and Max.

Dr. Leon was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Solomon Margolin.

Services have been held in Fort Myers, FL.
