Fred C. Pittman

April 19, 1952 - March 11, 2020

Fred C. Pittman passed away peacefully on March 11, 2020 after a brief battle with cancer and was surrounded by family and friends.  He was born and raised on Clark Lake in Jackson, Michigan. Fred along with his parents and siblings ran Eagle’s Nest Restaurant and Eagle Point Marina.  He was also instrumental in building the condos and was his father’s right hand man in the construction business, twice fired and always rehired sometimes daily.

If you are wondering if you have ever met him, you haven’t because you WOULD remember. He always attributed his great personality to the fact that dogs and kids always liked him.

Fred was a DIYer with no less than 9 unfinished projects at a time. He moved to Cape Coral to raise his family and worked as a projector manager for over 40 years. He never missed the opportunity to create nicknames for everyone he met, mainly because he was terrible with names. Friends would say he never met a rule he could not push, a line he could not cross and a story he could not stretch.

His passions included working with his hands and sleeping in his recliner with his dogs. Spreading the word of the Baha’i Faith was something he was born to do. He served the S.E. region answering the call of the seekers as well as the Baha’i center of learning in Davidson, Michigan. Music was a huge influence in his life and playing the guitar was something he loved to do.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Eleanor Pittman. He is survived by his loving wife Fran; his favorite child, Buster (his dog), Jessica Pittman (Justin Konz), Alicia (Jamie) Bryant, Jacob (Christen) Pittman and Audrey (Mark) Lozano. He was a loving grandfather to Connor, Ansley, Leighland, Aiden, Kinley and Matilda. He also adored his 8 step-grandchildren. Fred is also survived by three stepchildren Michael (Terri) Durland, Melissa (David) Lambros, Emily Durland; as well as his brother, Greg (Kristenia) Pittman, sister, Patti Hemminger and several nieces and nephews.

Private services have been held.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

Fred was one of those people that when you met him you knew he was genuinely a really good person. He was a great friend to our family and we all were so fortunate that he was in our lives for many years. It was a great time when he visited a few years ago. The selfless things that he did to help out those that he cared was a great example of how we should treat our fellow human beings. We are so deeply saddened by this news. Our deepest condolences to all of Freds family.

You were one of the few people I could have long spiritually uplifting conversations with often filled with tears and laughter! I miss that & am sad for your friends & family still here on earth, but I’m absolutely certain you are rejoicing with awe & wonder in your new home! I imagine the heavenly equivalent of you falling to your knees with tears streaming as you finally meet Bahá’u’lláh and that fills my heart with pure joy. I will continue to pray for you & hope you’ll pray for me too until we meet again my friend!
