Fructuoso Lopez Tristan

Fructuoso Lopez Tristan, 81, a resident of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Fort Myers, FL, passed away Monday, May 23, 2022, in Port Charlotte. He was born January 21, 1941, in Matehuala, Mexico, to Pedro Lopez Jimenez and Rosa Tristan Leos, now deceased. 

Fructuoso was of the Catholic faith.  He immigrated to the United States in 1964 to work as a farmworker until the mid-70s, when he began working in construction, specifically in masonry, until he retired in 1994. He will be remembered as a social, outgoing, and hardworking man who loved dressing up and dancing to polkas. He enjoyed his weekly trips to the flea market and yard sales, buying his fruits and vegetables and socializing around town. He was an excellent storyteller, had great style and will be remembered for his famous sayings. He was an outstanding uncle to his many nieces and nephews, who adored him. He spent nearly 21 years on dialysis, battling diabetes, a testament to the true warrior his family has always known him to be. Family and friends well loved him.  

He is survived by his two loving children, Maria de la Luz Lopez Muñiz (Noe) of Atlanta, GA and Fructuoso Rey Lopez, of San Antonio, TX; two sisters, Juana and Silveria Lopez Tristan; three brothers, Alfredo, Francisco and Gildardo Lopez Tristan; as well as four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Fructuoso was recently preceded in death by brothers, Ramiro Lopez Tristan and Donato Lopez.

Funeral Service will be held 8:00 PM, Friday, May 27, 2022 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd, Ft. Myers, 33916. The Family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM prior to funeral service.

Committal services to be held at 10:00 AM, May 28, 2022 at Fort Myers City Cemetery, 3200 Michigan Ave, Fort Myers, FL 33916.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 40720 Little Farm Road, Punta Gorda, FL  33982 after committal services. 

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Village Place Health and Rehabilitation Center in Port Charlotte, FL and the Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Center in Punta Gorda, FL for their care and compassion all of these years.
