Gary L. Davis

May 7, 1944 - January 23, 2018

Gary Lee Davis, 73, a resident of Lee County, FL since 1970, formerly of Miami, FL, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in North Fort Myers, FL. He was born May 7, 1944 in Pratt, KS to Willie and Sara Davis, now deceased.

Gary was proud to serve in the United States Navy during Vietnam and separated his service to devote his life to creating and supporting a large family. He and his wife extended their loving arms to many who consider them as surrogate parents. Gary held many jobs which included holding his Master Electricians License and his class A General Contractors License. He also managed to build his wife’s 2-story dream home while working full-time and financially supporting the family. He retired in 2006 from the Lee County Port Authority due to medical illness and survived his battle with cancer. Gary was an avid hunter and sportsman, always taking time to educate his family about safety and hunting. Family was the most important thing to him, hosting all holiday and special occasion gatherings at his home with everyone present. Gary (Fafa) was the rock of the family and will always and forever be missed and loved!

He is survived by four loving children, Cynthia Gelet (Patrick), Tammy Morrison (James), Michael Davis and Deborah Pegg (Joseph), all of North Fort Myers; adopted daughter, Karen Wolcott (Rusty) of Geneva, OH; two siblings, Robert Davis (Judy) of Fort White, FL and Diane Perez-Gurri (Jorge) of Miami, FL; a niece, Christina Perez-Gurri of Miami, FL and two nephews, Logan Perez-Gurri of Miami and Lane Davis of Fort White, FL; twelve grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan, Stacee, James, Joshua, Caleb, Alexis, Adrianne, Abbigayle, Zachary, Devin and Cooper; as well as one great grandchild, Kired.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Davis in 2011.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am on Saturday February 3rd, 2018 at Faith Assembly of God, 6950 Bayshore Road, North Fort Myers, FL 33917 with Pastor Steve officiating.
