George D. “Don” Gordy
George Donald Gordy, Jr., (Don), 60, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past five years, formerly of Daytona, FL and NY, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 in Cape Coral. He was born May 28, 1958 in Elmira, NY.
Don was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Coral. He was a diehard NY Yankees fan, he loved to fish, enjoyed cooking, and watching CNN every day. He loved knowledge. He married the love of his life on December 30, 2016. His daughters and grandchildren were his world. He loved to joke and laugh and was always quick with a hug. He never met a stranger who didn’t become his friend. He was always there to help anyone at any given time.
He spent his days caring for his home, his wife, and his pool. In his free time, you could find him hanging out with his friends or poolside with his wife and dogs. He was generous with his smile and was loved by many.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Gordy of Cape Coral; step father, Donald Simmons the 2nd of Cape Coral and NY; five children, Taylor Gordy of West Palm Beach, FL, Logan Gordy of West Palm Beach, FL, Ryan Gordy (Jessica) of Egg Harbour Township NJ, Louis Ortega of Cape Coral, and Kayla Ortega, also of Cape Coral; five siblings, Debbie Lopez of St. Petersburg, FL, Vicki Hallman of West Palm Beach, FL, Judy Dennis (John) of Apopka, FL, Julie Gordy of Boston, MA and David Gordy, also of Boston, MA; two grandchildren, Aviana and Phoenix; mother in law and father in law, Angelo and Fran DeBiase of Cape Coral; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as Marley and Buddy, the dogs.
Don was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Kitty) Rossman.
Memorial Services with Military Honors will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church, 13 SE 21st Place, Cape Coral, FL 33990 with Pastor Arlene Jackson officiating.
