Gerald “Jerry” Michael Zedde

July 30, 1962 - January 6, 2020

Gerald “Jerry” Michael Zedde, 57, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2016, formerly of Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, passed away Monday, January 6, 2020, in Cape Coral, FL. He was born in Detroit, MI.

Jerry was a member of Crosspoint Christian Church in Cape Coral.  He retired after 24 years of dedicated service to the U.S. government.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, his classic car, traveling, and spending precious time with his family and friends.  

He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Diane, and their two loving children, Dominic and Matthew, of Cape Coral; dear parents, Elio and Sandra Zedde of St. Clair Shores, MI; three siblings, Cheryl (Robert) Brown of Sterling Heights, MI, John (Janice) Zedde of Harrison Township, MI, and Sharon Zedde of Harrison Township, MI; several nieces and nephews, including: Justin, Lauren, Danny, Brittany, Mandy, Devyn, Layne, and GiGi; mother-in-law, Betty Dobberfuhl; brother-in-law, Larry (Kimberly) Dobberfuhl; niece and nephews including Jonathan, Rebecca, and Benjamin. Of special mention is his dog and faithful companion, Bain. 

Jerry was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Gordon Dobberfuhl in 2017.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 PM Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Crosspoint Christian Church, 204 SW 11th Place, Cape Coral, FL 33991 with Pastor Jeff Swearingen officiating. All are welcome to attend the reception, immediately following.

    It’s been about 22 years since I last worked with Jerry and saw him. I remember him always being a happy guy with a big smile, which would lend to a great conversation.     Gerald, was just thinking about you the other day. So sad to hear this. Gerald was a good friend so many years back in our El Cajon days. Always brightened everyone’s day with a smile and his positive attitude. I always share the story of how he was a DJ and could name any song within seconds.     I was sad when I heard the news about what happened to Jerry. So unbelievable that his life/mission on earth ended. He was one of the nicest guy I’ve met in Saipan.     I had the great pleasure of working with Jerry at the Academy. He had a real passion for the agency and his students. My heart is broken that he is no longer here to tell us one of his stories. May God bless you Diane, and the kids. He loved you all tremendously.
