Geraldine “Dolly” M. Swope
Geraldine “Dolly” Maxine Swope, 85, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 18 years, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 in Cape Coral. She was born December 8, 1932 in Cass, Indiana to Joseph Raymond Watts and Ima Jane (Bell) Watts.
Dolly attended Riley High School and afterwards met and married the love of her life, Donald Swope, and together they have enjoyed 64 years of marriage. She retired from Notre Dame, where she was employed in their catering service.
Dolly loved spending time with her family. She was the life of the party and the mom that everyone loved and wished they had. She enjoyed camping, playing lotto (especially scratch offs), playing bingo, slot machines, bowling and we can’t forget how she loved watching WWF with her son in law Damon, that she always referred to as son. Dolly loved a good conversation and she took the time to talk with others and getting to know every person she had contact with. Dolly especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She babysat them, took them on numerous Florida vacations, camping trips, gave them rides home from school and countless sleepovers. She knew how to make each of her family members feel special in her own way. Most of all Dolly loved her husband Don and in their 64 years together they still were very much in love with each other. Don and Dolly lovingly cared for each other through all of their illnesses in the last few years and in the end that love remained.
She is survived by her beloved husband Don Swope of Cape Coral, her loving daughter Donna Bittner and her husband Damon Bittner of Granger Indiana; 3 grandchildren, Danielle (Troy) Williamson, Zachary Bittner and Gabrielle Bittner; as well as 2 great grandchildren, Brayden and Jocelyn.
She was preceded in death by 1 infant sister, Judith Watts and 3 brothers, Charles Watts, Raymond Watts and Robert Watts.
A Christian Memorial Service will be held in Indiana.
Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.
