Gregory Alan Snyder
Gregory Alan Snyder, 66, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 20 years, formerly of Denver, CO, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 in Cape Coral. He was born April 16, 1950 in Denver, CO to Claude and Ruth Snyder, now deceased.
Greg reached the rank of Captain during his years with the Aurora, CO Fire Department. Styling his Peter Max tennis shoes (with red lips on the back and blue clouds on the side) during all recreational activities. Greg soon became known throughout his life as The Shoe. Following an injury during a fire, Greg spent his last few years with the Department serving as their Emergency Manager. After retirement from the Department, he spent several years at Albertsons in Cape Coral and managed their fuel center until it closed. He finished out his retail career at Sweetbay and Winn-Dixie. Greg leaves this world having never met a person he didn’t call his friend. He will be loved and missed by all.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Karen Snyder; mother in law, Carol Newman; sister, Robynn Wood; two brother in laws, Steven Newman and Michael Newman (Mary); several nieces and nephews; Summer Dawn, his canine companion, as well as his Brothers and Sisters at the Aurora Fire Department.
Gregory was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Lee Snyder.
A Celebration of Greg’s Life will be held in Cape Coral, FL at a later date in October.
