Helen “Sue” Ayala

February 9, 1950 - October 12, 2020

Helen “Sue” Ayala, 70, a resident of Ft. Myers for the past 45 years, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020 in Fort Myers.  She was born February 9, 1950 in Roberta, GA to Elic and Mary Combs, now deceased. 

Sue was of deep Christian faith.  In addition to being a dedicated wife and loving mother, Sue also loved talking to her sisters and reading scripture.  Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God which she shared with her loving husband.  Early in her life, Sue was involved in produce sales, then became an activities director at a nursing home.  She was always on the go and enjoyed shopping, her friends, her church family and surprise visiting her family.  She was a mentor and neighborhood counselor to many and a champion for God.

She is survived by her loving child, Randy Maldonado (Mary-Ann) of Methuen, MA; five sisters, Gaile Lyons (Charlie) of Orange Park, FL, Betty Rice (Sonny) of Jacksonville, FL, Jenny Smith (Melvin) of Taylor, FL, Brenda Grimes (David) of Jacksonville, FL and Jackie Combs of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren, Ryan Maldonado (Amy) of Cookeville, TN,  Roman Maldonado of Methuen, MA, as well as,  Anthony Driver, Randy Ayala, Kaloeb Ayala, Cisto Ayala, and Jose Ayala; sister-in-law, Joyce Combs and two brother-in-laws, Keith Dasher and Don Hughes; numerous nieces and nephews as well as a very close family friend, Angelina Bowles and family of Ft. Myers.  

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Ayala in 2011; a son, Jesus Ayala, Jr.; four siblings, David Combs, Carol Dasher, Robert Combs and Linda Hughes.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Slater Bible Church, 18130 Matt Rd., North Fort Myers, FL 33917 with Pastor J.W. Richardson officiating.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Helen Sue Ayala are suggested to Slater Bible Church, 18130 Matt Rd., North Fort Myers, FL 33917.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Fort Myers, is entrusted with final care.

    Throughout the years I have always searched for you online since leaving Florida.I am so saddened by finding out this way.But I know you are rejoicing with Jesus and Pee Wee.I have so many fun memories of you…shopping,and our love of trying to find the best fried chicken in Lee County ha ha ha 🙂 You helped me in so many ways that thank you would never be enough.Your Faith always rubbed off on me and I know you would be proud of where I am in my Journey with God..Blessings to your Family Sue,they were sure fortunate to have you !
