Herbert (Herb) Lee Reece

May 21, 1959 - December 2, 2020

Herbert (Herb) Lee Reece, 61, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 1985, formerly of Connersville, IN, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in Cape Coral. He was born May 21, 1959 in Sand Gap, KY to Sherman Reece and Ruth Christine Kirby, now deceased.

Herbert was of the Christian faith. He was a dedicated husband, Father and Grandfather, who believed in honesty, hard work and always doing what was right.  He grew up with small town values and worked tirelessly to provide for his family.  Despite growing up of modest means, Herbert was able to put himself through college and master many skills and trades, developing himself into a successful entrepreneur.  Herb was an artist, a craftsman and a most talented wood worker.  There wasn’t anything He could not do if he put his mind to it.  Although Herbert spent most of his life living in Florida, he never forgot his roots or where he came from, keeping those small town values and passing them on to his children.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Wally Reece of Cape Coral; five loving children, Richard Coleman of Cape Coral, Talina Reece of Connersville, IN, Clint Reece (Brandy) of Connersville, IN, William Coleman (Nicole) of Syracuse, NY, and Kelly Caudill of IN; 13 Grandchildren; as well as 3 Great Grandchildren.

No formal services are planned at this time.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.

Herb was fun grow up with, normally kind of quiet. He was an awesome 1st cousin. He enjoyed taking peoples pictures without them knowing, then surprising us later through an messenger chat. He loved teasing me with his wife’s (Wally) mozzarella salad or his cup of coffee over looking their lake behind their home. Herb was way more then a cousin, he was a great, great friend, just as his wife Wally. I can understand their soulmate relationship, When they loved and respected you, you could feel that love. I will forever miss Herb as I keep him alive in my heart and with the continued family-ship of his beloved wife. Herb was one of a kind, he was such a kind man and appreciated his upbringing as much as (he would say) Florida has been good to him and Wally. I sure wish we would have gotten the chance to go parasailing together, but we will meet again! ❤
My sincere condolences to all that loved Herb, it was a huge loss, my prayers are with all. 🙏

I am so saddened by the loss of my wonderful brother-in-law Herbert Reece. Herb was such a big part of my life both
at work and in our family life. He and Wally took the best care of each other and always had consideration for each others wants and needs. He was a wonderful role model to my beloved nephews Rick and Bill and his grandchildren

    Herb,
I am grateful for the time you had here on Earth and I am grateful for the love you shared with Aunt Wally. I am also thankful for the way you raised my cousins and how you helped to shape them into the wonderful men they are today. You were a quiet man but you always had a big presence, and because of this we will miss you at every family gathering. You were so creative and you were also a master craftsman whose talents were limitless. There are no words that can truly express how deeply your passing hurts. However, the hurt we all feel is a testament to how much we all loved you. Your life will continue on through the memories we all hold dear to our hearts. Until we meet again, thank you for being a wonderful husband, friend, uncle, father-in-law, brother-in-law, father, and grandfather. You will be forever missed.
    Love,
    Chris, Jason, and Lilly

I write this with a heavy heart and my mind in complete disbelief. I will forever feel blessed to have you step in as my uncle and help teach me as a child and later mentor me in my professional life. You will be missed but I know your in a better place now. I will do my best to help carry on your legacy. RIP Uncle Herb…

It is hard to put into words what a loss like this feels like. Herb was always a strong and steady force for his family and a man that loved and protected them. He was a man of fewer words but you could always count on him for a witty remark and to be a master on the grill. I always admired how Heath would look up to Herb when it came to his skill and artistry in his work. It was always easy to see the dedication and attention he put into his craft. His presence will be missed during family get togethers but his legacy will live on through our thoughts and memories with him.
