Ileana M Sisson

August 7, 1956 - July 2, 2017

Ileana M. Sisson, 60, a St. James City resident since 2003, formerly of Central Florida passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017. She was born August 7, 1956 in Cuba.

Ileana was a unique and special person. She was an achiever and a dreamer and had tremendous passion for the things and people she loved. She was a practicing psychotherapist with a Master’s degree in psychology and a PhD in Natural health— two of her passions. She was a Diplomate member of the American Psychotherapy Association.

She was an avid cyclist who at times rode 50+ miles and competed and won races. She frequently hiked, kayaked, canoed, camped, and traveled. She had a passion for animals that was unsurpassed. She loved writing poems, painting, photography, and composing music.

Ileana was a published author. Completing and publishing her book, Seasons of Healing,was a dream come true for her. She was a past contributor to Country Discoveries magazine and to psychological journals, and many other publications. She was a frequent public speaker for many different organizations. Her trademarked- Women In The Wild- retreats were very successful.

In her free time she volunteered her services to the Emergency Animal Rescue Service, to the Matlacha/ Pine Island Fire Control District, and other organizations.

Ileana was an ordained Minister, a Level two Cycling Coach, a member of PETA, the Sierra Club, and the Florida Trails Organization.

She will be deeply missed by all those she loved and loved her. She was an inspiration to many and was quite an amazing person.

She is survived by her loving father, Alberto Martinez of Apopka, FL; as well as her sister and brother in law, Gloria and Kim Allen Balogh, and her nephews, Brooks and Tyler Balogh of Tavares, FL.
