Jacqueline Lacey Oliver

December 26, 1990 - August 29, 2022

Jacqueline Lacey Oliver, age 31, of Pinckneyville, Illinois, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 10:00 p.m. as she was Returning from the dollar general when she was crossing a busy street and was struck by a moving vehicle. This occurred in Cape Coral, Florida. She and a friend were on their way to a new job awaiting them in the southern aspect of Florida. They had stopped for the night to rest.

Jacqueline was born on December 26th,1990, in Sparta, Illinois. Her parents were Lon Davis and Shirley Oliver. She attended Pinckneyville Community High School. Jacqueline was of Christian faith and held a loving relationship with God. She nurtured this relationship, and their bond grew stronger every day.

Jacqueline was known to be a very kind, and loving person. She had the kind of personality that fit in anywhere, be it skid row or Rodeo Drive.  Known for her bravery, fearlessness, and love for life. Once she moved from southern IL, she continued to stay in touch with many of her childhood friends. She had just recently returned “back home”

Jacqueline was known by many for her compassionate spirit. She would put aside her own problems and dive in to help a friend in need. She had great faith in mankind. Ever since she was a child, she stood up for those less fortunate. She was quick to trust. She had a unique spirit that made her unforgettable. She took life on anew everyday. She had faith and hope for the future. She did not believe in failure. She would say there is no such thing as failure unless you “give up” and that is never an option. She persevered, even during the
The most difficult of times and celebrated the good.

When asked what her greatest achievement was, to her it was simple “My daughter was the best thing I ever did.” She held a great love for both her girls. She felt her daughter, Alyvia and stepdaughter, Vanessa taught her the true meaning of love.

Jacqueline was a shade tree mechanic. She loved the challenge of trouble shooting a vehicle and doing the repairs herself. If working with a man, he needed to be prepared to “hand her” the tools. She took great pride in her self taught mechanic skills.

She was known for her insight and ability to give encouragement. She had considered becoming a substance abuse counselor, hoping she could make a difference.

She loved anything social. She was at home everywhere she went. When it came to activities, anything “Outside” was a good start. She loved camping and fishing. Even a small bonfire in the back yard would do.
She looked forward to going “Mudding” during the summer months. You can bet she would be the first in-line when the events came to town. She would take off Friday and you would not see her again until Sunday. When the event was over, she would return home covered in mud from head to toe.

Overall she found peace in the water.  Everything she did was always better when she had her “girls” with her.
She and her daughter Alyvia loved to share time and knowledge caring for their boa constrictor “Medusa”.

She enjoyed sewing and was known to make her daughters costumes and Christmas outfits.
Ever since she was a child, she enjoyed decorating for the holidays. Christmas and Halloween were her favorites where she would go “All Out”

When eating out, Chinese was always her first choice. She loved eggdrop soup and would get it EVERYTIME. She insisted on using chopsticks, that it was just” not right” to use a fork. The highlight was always sharing our fortune cookies by playing a traditional family game as we read our fortunes.

She will be truly missed by all who love her.

She is survived by her parents, Lon Davis, and Shirley Oliver; her daughter, Alivya Renee Ann Sullivan; step
daughter, Vanessa Marie Sullivan; beloved sister, Brooklynne Marquis Oliver;  grandmother, Alberta ( MaMa Berta)McCollum; step sisters, Hydee Dobbs and Hannah Hunt;  stepbrothers, Derek Worley, Richard Rylee and Cody Sims; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Jacqueline is preceded in death by grandmother, Sally (Grandma Sally) Asa; stepmother, Sholanda (Shoe) Worley; as well as aunt, Mary Beckett.

A celebration of life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, September 24, 2022, at The Independent Pentecost Church, 39 Vine Street in Tamaroa across from Dollar General. Brother Kirk Steele will open the floor for all who wish to share memories of their times with Jacqueline. Dinner is being provided by the church. Friends and family are encouraged to bring a signature side dish or desert. Keep in mind things shared and enjoyed with Jacqueline as we celebrate her life and share stories. This a celebration of Jacqueline and all she loves, which means, please bring the kids. There will be crafts and activities for the kids. What better way to celebrate then to do so to the sound of children playing. Dress whatever way you feel comfortable.

You can find an event page in Jacqueline’s Facebook. We encourage everyone to sign on to help with an accurate head count. If you choose to bring a dish, you can enter it on the event page to help avoid duplication.
