James Edward Staley “Ed”

January 13, 1955 - June 10, 2015

James Edward Staley, aka “Ed” 60, a North Fort Myers resident for the past 30 years, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in Fort Myers. He was born January 13, 1955 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Ed was of the Methodist faith. He grew up in North Fort Myers, FL and attended North Fort Myers High. He was a honor Chorus Member who received a scholarship to attend college but Ed chose another route. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1974 and retired from the service after 24 years. He was a Senior Chief Cryptologist and held in high regard from his shipmates and fellow Morse Code Cryptologists.

After retiring from the service he settled down in his hometown North Fort Myers, Florida where he was then employed by Lynx Services as a Quality Assurance Supervisor until moving to Knoxville, TN where he worked for a large company as a Director of Operations for the Quality Assurance Department. Ed retired after many years of service. He wanted to be near his Grandchildren and moved to Malvern, PA for a short time.

When his illness became severe he decided to come home. Where his loving mother (79 years old) took care of him every day. He loved his family and was such a genuine good guy, his sense of humor got him through all the tough times. He was a private, loving, kind, proud man who was loved so much by all. It was an honor to call him our loved one.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Anne McNellis Staley resided in Maryville, TN; loving mother and stepfather, Joyce Wilhite Lowary and Clarence Lowary resides in N. Fort Myers, FL; loving son, Brian Jay Staley Resides in Michigan; step children, Jennifer and (John) Grobe resides in Malvern PA and Jason Albright from Maryville, TN; siblings, Cindy Staley Martin and(Chris) of Buckingham, FL, Connie Pacholik of Tinley Park, IL, Rhonda Ahmad of Tinley Park, IL, and Mike Staley of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Maddie, Jacob and Reaghan Grobe who will always miss their Poppy; as well as a niece, Sharon Harry (Chris) and a nephew, Justin Polk (Amy). Great nieces; Sydney and Phoenix Harry and Great Nephew; Jaden Polk.

Ed was preceded in death by his father, James Hobert Staley.

Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Fort Myers, is entrusted with final care.

A Visitation will be held 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Mullins Memorial, 3654 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33916.

A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Alva Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Alva, FL 33920.
