Jo Ann Eastburn
Jo Ann Eastburn, 71, of North Fort Myers, FL, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 in Cape Coral, FL. She was born June 8, 1950 in Bloomfield, NJ to Norman and Nancy Paxton, now deceased.
Growing up, she dedicated her time to riding and showing horses as a member of the local 4H club. She later went on to become valedictorian of her graduating class and was awarded with a scholarship for her continuous hard work.
Jo Ann lived most of her life in North Fort Myers, Florida where she worked for many years as a paraprofessional in the Lee County School District. She rose to the challenges of working with the most difficult students by forging genuine connections with them-this was one of her greatest attributes.
She had a passion for cooking and was adventurous enough to try out new recipes. Jo Ann was an exceptional pool player, taking part in several winning leagues. She also found joy in playing board games, cards, or BINGO with her friends and family. Nonetheless, spending time with her family was paramount in building beautiful memories with all who loved her. Jo Ann was immensely proud of her children and especially loved her role as grandma. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life, and she was very excited and grateful to be able to live so close to all three of them.
Jo Ann’s vivacious and forthright personality always commanded attention, and led to her forming several long-lasting friendships. She was a straight-shooter, always direct and honest with those she cared about.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Phillip Eastburn of North Fort Myers; three children, Wynell Jones of North Fort Myers, Norman Jones (Meagan) of Cape Coral, and Jesse Jones (Lindsey) also of Cape Coral; three brothers, Norman Townsend (Valerie) of Manalapan, NJ, Melvin Townsend, II of North Fort Myers, and Christopher Townsend (Pamela) of Cape Coral; as well as three grandchildren, Riley Jones, Scarlett Jones, and Alina Jones.
No formal services are planned at this time.
Mullins Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cape Coral, is entrusted with final care.
Although I never met JoAnn, Wynell as been a friend of my daughter, Karen, and I for many years. Wynell exhibits infinite good qualities, a sense of humor, and a great character.. Those things don’t happen by chance , but by good parenting early in life. For JoAnn’s husband, daughter, son, brothers, and grandchildren.. may her memories comfort you at this difficult time.
I worked with JoAnn at Suncoast Elementary, JoAnn always had a big smile on her face! She could work with some of the most difficult children! I am so sorry for the family.

Meet Joann many years ago. Planned in a lot of pool leagues with her. Still have her first wedding rings. She was such a sweet friend always. Joann will be missed by many. Hope she is playing pool with her bubba Tony and Kessie.
I have not seen Jo Ann in many years but I had the privilege of growing up with her and her siblings as cousins. She always had an amazing presence and she will be missed by her family and for them I send my sincere condolences.
Joann was a beautiful person. Inside and out. I have many memories of her. She always had a smile on her face (even when things were not funny). She was an amazing pool player. I would be playing with someone, then she would put her quarters on the table and I would think crap, it’s over for me if I won. Euchre, now she was a champ. I loved being her partner. She loved her husband and children very much. And oh that smile, was never ending. I moved away a long time ago but I will always remember Joann. I Love You.

I had the pleasure of meeting Joann when her daughter, Wynell was in my 3rd grade classroom. Joann was a very caring parent and had a great sense of humor as I recall. Wynell was a lovely student and a credit to her mother.
Another of our Suncoast Elem. family has passed on. For many of us it was the best time of our careers. My prayers go out to the family.
