John grew up in Cleveland, Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie where he and his dad enjoyed pleasure boating, racing, and building sailboats. With his mom as mentor, John gained a lifetime of cooking talent by spending hours together in the kitchen preparing family and traditional holiday meals.

Upon graduating from Lutheran HS East, he attended Ohio University, receiving a BA of Business Administration in 1968. John began a family of two wonderful children – Jonathon and Jennifer.  He started what would become a long and successful career in technology sales at Sperry Univac (now Unisys) for the next 35 years.

In 2003 John and his family visited Ganzhou China with Spence-Chapin Family Services to welcome home 10-month-old Liana as the newest family member.

Throughout his life, John enjoyed many active outdoor hobbies including boating, scuba diving, camping, flying small aircrafts, shooting, and golfing. He spent wonderful years with his family and friends boating and swimming in the crystal waters of Lake George, in the Adirondack Mountains of New York.

John also possessed a keen interest in fine food and culinary arts and was a member of Les Marmitons of Cranford NJ.

As an avid traveler, John and his family joined friends on vacations throughout the Caribbean islands, Australia, and Hawaii.

John was a wonderful addition to our family. I have fond memories of our time together during his amazing feasts and family get togethers up at the lake and down in NJ. Truly an amazing brother-in-law and friend.

John was a welcome addition to les marmitons. He always had a smile and was quick to laugh. He was very passionate about cooking. He loved to talk about sailing on lake George. Only after John had joined did I realize our daughters knew each other from Westfield high school . He will be missed.

Just found out of his passing. I grew up with John in grade school and high school. I remember his family was the only one I knew that hunted. He was in my wedding party. Great memories.
