John D. Seymour

September 18, 1944 - May 27, 2017

John Darrow Seymour, 72, a Cape Coral, FL resident for almost a year, formerly of Covington, GA, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 in Ft. Myers. He was born September 18, 1944 in Orange County, Texas to Albin Robert and Rebecca Wilkins Seymour, now deceased.

John was of the Baptist faith. He was a friend to everyone and worked with many organizations to help those less fortunate. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. He was a singer/songwriter, master electrician, business owner and loved to tell a good joke. He always told his friends, “when the smoke clears and you look around, I will be there.” He was a member of the Covington, Georgia Elks Club and the Moose Lodge #2199 Cape Coral, Florida.

He is survived by his beloved wife of seven years, Mary Seymour of Cape Coral; a son, Kevin Darrow Seymour and wife Jerri of Covington, GA; two step children, Melissa Ann French of Cape Coral and James Brian McReynolds of Brandon, MS; a granddaughter, Amy Seymour of Tifton, GA; three siblings, Charles “Butch” Seymour and wife JoJo of Bainbridge, GA, Albin “Huck” Seymour and wife Debra of Chattahoochee, FL and Judy Pye and Lloyd of Gordon, Alabama; as well as his mother-in-law, Mary Helen T. Daniels and husband Plumer of Kinston, NC.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Michael Keith Seymour and a sister, Betty Sanders.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Mullins Memorial, 1056 NE 7th Terrace, Cape Coral, FL 33909 with Pastors Terry and Trent Ozburn officiating, with committal services immediately following at Coral Ridge Cemetery, Cape Coral. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday at Mullins Memorial from 11:00 AM until the hour of service.
