John David Danz

August 10, 1933 - September 20, 2020

John David Danz, 87, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 20 years, formerly of Bloomington, MN, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 in Cape Coral.  He was born August 10, 1933 in St. Paul, MN. Preceded in death by parents, Dr. Paul and Marguerite Danz; and also by his wife, Ann L. Danz in 2002.

John was a graduate from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.  He then went on to work in the Engineering Department for the City of Edina as a land surveyor for over 30 years.  He will always be remembered as an avid boater and an outdoorsman.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Cathy Kenney (David) of Shakopee, MN; his best friend, Merlin the cat; devoted and loving friends, Brian Hoffman and Julie Nelson, both of Cape Coral; other children, Debra Miller of White Bear Lake, MN, Jennifer Frana (Joe) of MO, and John Miller of MO.

    Goodness I don’t know where to start with how much of a wonderful person Mr. Danz was…he probably wish me to think of John…Cathy`s cool Dad. He was so nice and took my silly stupid actions with humor. Those great times is how I`m going to remember him and I hope others will too. Take care Cathy and Dave love you very much!

    So enjoyed his friendship. Seems like yesterday we celebrated John’s 80th. Such a big hello Everytime he saw us. I’ll miss him so much

    Met John & Ann at Duke’s bar in Mendota, MN. What a guy what a wonderful couple. Spent too much of my youth at Duke’s but always enjoyed talking with John. I retain many fond memories of my visits with John. Football boards during the Fall season and card games in the end booth. My sincere condolences.

    Your dad is someone I remember from the marina in Hastings. He had such a presence about him. He was captivating. So sorry for your loss.
