John Dosch Burkhart

March 13, 1947 - July 5, 2021

John Dosch Burkhart, 74, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 13 years, formerly of Adrian, MI, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 in Cape Coral. He was born March 13, 1947 in Saline, MI to Charles and Elizabeth (Dosch) Burkhart, now deceased.

John Graduated from Saline High School with the Class of 1966. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran 67-68. Printer by Trade, working in and around Ann Arbor & Jackson Mi. He also spent 10 years at Tecumseh Products, Tecumseh Michigan before retiring when the products closed its doors. On October 6, 1990 John happily married Sharlene Phipps. In 2008 he, his wife, and Grand Daughter Taylor moved to Cape Coral, FL, where they enjoyed the sunshine and relaxation. Over the past 35 years John had owned 5 beautiful Harley Bikes and loved spending most of his time riding open roads, exploring fun new places. He also liked fishing either on his boat or right on the beach. John was a Grateful Recovering Alcoholic for over 35 years. He experienced many Miracles in his recovery including, the Finding of a God of His Understanding, meeting and marrying the Love of His life, Sharlene, raising his stepchildren and granddaughter, and discovering he had a granddaughter Chantell Kinney (his son Johnathan’s daughter). John had the Pleasure of being a dad & Grandpa to several children, who dearly loved and looked up to him, also being cherished by his nieces & nephews. In Johns later years he took up woodworking, making many Amazing & One-of-a-kind pieces for Friends & Family. John had two things he wanted to be apart of before he passed, to walk Amanda down the aisle and to see Taylor Graduate and both were fulfilled. John will be missed dearly by those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sharlene Burkhart of Cape Coral; children, Joseph Phipps (Jennifer) of Adrian, MI, Amanda Garcia (Jared) of San Antonio, TX, Ronald Chambell(Cyndi) of Saline, MI, and Teresa Chambell of Westland, MI; siblings, Elizabeth Miller (Todd) of Clinton, MI, Cathy Dosch of Boulder, NV, Sondra Thomas of Boulder, NV, Joseph Burkhart of Richmond, MI, Charlie Burkhart of Knoxville, IN, Jeff Burkhart of North Fort Myers, FL, and Eric Burkhart (Mary) of Battle Creek, MI; grandchildren, Chantell Kinney (Thomas), Krystal Miles, Taylor Rasmussen, Dohnovan Chambell, Joseph Phipps Jr., Juliette Phipps, Adrian Garcia, and Paul Nolan, Jr.; as well as special nieces, Maria Hall-Burkhart, and Marissa Hall-Burkhart.

John was preceded in death by son, Jonathan Burkhart, brother, Phillip Burkhart, and dog, Bella.

John cherished all of his family and friends that supported him through his illness.

 A celebration of life will be held with a Graveside service on July 27, 2021 at 12:00 PM at the Maple Shade Cemetery, Onsted, MI 49265 on Slee Rd. A Luncheon will follow at the Durkee-Seager American Legion Post 550, 333 Connor St, Onsted, MI 49265.

    I met JB at Mary and Eric’s wedding , I walked down the aisle with him, he cracked jokes for the whole walk down, I was nervous and trying not to crack up. He was a great person, he will be missed. My love and prayers to all❤️
