John Roy Burnett
John Roy Burnett, 64, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past three years, formerly of Gardnerville, NV, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020. He was born April 3, 1955 in Merced, CA.
John was a loving son, father, brother and friend. He loved spending quality time with his children and his 11 grandchildren. He loved skiing, traveling, and a good football game. John was a successful realtor, builder and entrepreneur. In real estate he was known for helping others and making things happen when no one else could or would. He was always upbeat and no matter what was going on in his world, he was able to find the good and something uplifting to say about it. John was a caring man who found great happiness in helping others. He always looked at the bright side of life.
He is survived by his loving mother, Avanelle Reese of Cape Coral; three loving children, Shannon Gronich of Satellite Beach, FL, Benjamin Burnett (Michelle) of Palatka, FL, and Amanda Lorraine (Devin) of Richland, WA: three siblings, Darlene Wiksveen (Tore) of Cape Coral, Judy Burnett of Reno, NV, and Sharon Clark, of Stagecoach, NV; eleven grandchildren, Alexander, Makayla, Gabriel, Jeremy, Glenn, Emma, Julian, Abigail, Madeleine, Emilee, and Savannah; as well as several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his father, Roy Matthew Burnett; as well as a brother, Roger David Burnett.

I love you Dad! I’m so sad we didn’t get more time together. I loved how kind you were to everyone, and how you never spoke about anyone with an unkind word. You had such a positive outlook on life, and loved to have fun. May we speak words of life and love to everyone around us.

We will miss you friend! You were an amazing, caring, loving, faithful friend through thick and thin. A better friend could not be found. We can all learn from you in one way or another. We were blessed to have you in our lives. Will never forget you.
I’ll miss you John. You were like the grandfather I never had – but found in you. You were always willing to help in every situation and genuinely nice to everyone. I miss the mortgage advice, the card games, walks and conversation. As Cindy said, “A better friend could not be found”. Thank you for always caring and for all of the priceless memories and knowledge you gave me over the years. Your words provided courage and direction that helped get me to where I am today. I’ll never forget you.
