Joseph Frank Vigilante

August 12, 1938 - August 14, 2020

Joseph Frank Vigilante, 82, resident of North Fort Myers, FL since 2006, formerly of Easton, PA, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020 in Cape Coral, FL.  Born on August 12, 1938 in Easton, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Berta Vigilante.

Joe graduated in 1956 from Easton Area High School, Easton, PA and then attended Churchman’s Business College, also in Easton. Joe enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Hospital Corpsman. He was employed

as a purchasing agent at Ingersoll-Rand and retired from ConAgra.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carol (Auer) Vigilante of North Fort Myers; two devoted sons, Michael Vigilante (Sandy) of Lititz, PA, and David Vigilante (Katie) of Atlanta, GA; as well as four grandchildren, Alexander Vigilante (Stephanie) of Fort Myers, FL,

Taylor Mae Vigilante of Wyncote, PA, Nicholas Vigilante of Atlanta, GA, and Maxwell Vigilante, also of Atlanta, GA.

While living in Florida, Joe attended St. Therese Catholic Church in North Fort Myers. His true joy in the Sunshine State (besides the lack of snow) was his weekly golf game. Joe is famous for his hole-in-one on Hole #3 on the West Course at Del Tura Country Club.  He would always point it out as he drove by, “Did I ever tell you about the time I got a hole-in-one there?!”  Working on house projects, fiddling around in the garage, and having Happy Hour on the lanai kept him busy in retirement.  During Philadelphia Eagles games, his sons knew that their phones would be ringing since he loved to debate anything Eagles. His sayings were legendary, “Just keep backing up until you hear a crunch,” “I like red wine,” “Golf courses today are too easy,” and “It’s about damn time” and others not printable.

Joe was most proud, though, of his family. When speaking about his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, he radiated his love for them. And that is how Joe Vigilante will be remembered.

No formal services are planned at this time; however, those wishing to honor Joe’s life by making a difference in the lives of other people with heart conditions may send contributions to: Checks: American Heart Association, P.O. Joe was a good friend in high school and a few years after graduating. I introduced him to his wife Carol at Split Rock Lodge where we rented a cabin for the season . I was honored to be in his and Carol’s wedding party. I will always remember Joe as good and honorable person. I’m sure he will be given a good spot in heaven.
