Kathryn “Katie” Jeanette (Crum) Sooter

December 18, 1936 - June 9, 2022

Kathryn “Katie” Jeanette (Crum) Sooter, a life long resident of Eldon, MO, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 9, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Cape Coral, FL. Kathryn was born and raised in Eldon, MO on December 18, 1936, to AB and Jeanette (De Vinna) Crum.  She was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church in Tuscumbia, MO. In 1954, Katie graduated from Eldon High School and received a scholarship to the Kansas City Art Institute.  She was a cheerleader from 5th grade on and was remembered as a beautiful cheerleader with a beautiful personality.  Her house was the hangout for all her wonderful friends.  She decided to stay in Eldon and marry Mark Sooter where they raised 3 children.  After the children grew older, she worked at her family’s business, Crum’s Cleaners, and Ann Lees. Later in life, she owned and operated Katie’s Korner Antiques and Gifts. She was a wonderful, loving wife and partner with her husband Mark, as well as a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. Katie loved working in her beautiful flower beds, sewing and crocheting. In her final days, she loved watching her great grandson, Jaxson, swim.  She was loved by many and will be missed.

Katie is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Mark J Sooter of Eldon, MO; three children, Deborah Gore (Paul) of Cape Coral, FL, Linda Nichols (Eric) of West Des Moines, IA, and Mark Sooter (Carol) of Rolla, MO; ten grandchildren, Angela, Douglas, Jason, Samuel, Jamie, Christina, Shaun, Curtis, Stephanie and Mark; sixteen great grandchildren, Logan, Kinsley, Jaxson, Mason, Landon, Addison Caitlyn, Andrew, Emery, Iyla, Samantha, Austin, Alivia, Brentley, Mark G. III and Kylie; three great great grandchildren, Sophia, Adalyn and Wrenley; as well as one nephew, Jeff Crum of Rolla, MO and one grandnephew, Weston Paulik, of Kirksville, MO.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, AB and Jeanette (DeVinna) Crum; a brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Darlene Crum; and one niece, Cindy (Crum) Paulik.

    Katie was a long-time school friend, knew her from early childhood. Blessings to her family.
