Kenneth B Taylor

Kenneth Taylor, age 79, a Ft. Myers, FL resident since 2003, formerly of Rockville, MD passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017 in Ft. Myers, FL. He was born January 1, 1938 in Escambia County, FL to Brooks and Helen Taylor, now deceased.

Kenneth was a retired Commander in the United States Navy. He was a member of Cypress Lake United Methodist Church, Ft. Myers, FL. Kenneth was not only a proud graduate but also a proud supporter of Florida State University. He worked in the computer industry for over 35 years in both sales and management. Ken was extremely devoted to every endeavor he pursued; he sang for 23 years with the Barbershop groups, including Capital Chorus in Washington, D.C. and Paradise Coastman in Naples, FL. In Washington, D.C. he was a basketball referee and baseball umpire for over 20 years. Since moving to Florida he enjoyed tennis, golf, boat club and bocce. He was active in the Lexington Veterans Association serving several times as their commander. Ken lived life to its fullest and thoroughly enjoyed his time in Florida.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Claire Taylor of Ft. Myers, FL; three children, Cynthia Smith Ayed (Jaloul) of Casablanca, Morocco, Rodney Randall Smith (Sharon) of Mount Airy, MD and Tracey Constable (Jim) of Powder Springs, GA; one sister, Anita Joiner (Richard) of Pensacola, FL; two brothers, Gerald Taylor (Patsy) of Pensacola, FL and Douglas Taylor of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren, Jihane, Malik, Ramzi, Lauren, Jessica, Christopher and Brendan; one great granddaughter, Soraya; a brother-in-law, Hank Kennedy (Susan) of Ft. Myers, FL; as well as several loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister Joyce in May of 2017.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at The Cypress Lake United Methodist Church, 8570 Cypress Lake Dr., Ft. Myers, FL 33919.
