Leon P. Pratt

Leon Paul Pratt, 85, a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 50 years, formerly of Miami, FL, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Cape Coral, FL. He was born March 25, 1933 in Manchester, CT to Ernest and Ellen Pratt, now deceased.

Leon was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral, FL. He was a hand to hand combat instructor for 8 years in the Marine Corps serving in the Korean War. Leon owned a masonry business for years helping build many of the homes in Cape Coral. He was a drum choir instructor at Cape Coral High School while his oldest children attended the school. The last 20 years, Leon gave back to the community spending hours teaching the game of basketball and coached many teams at the YMCA, AAU League, and Parks and Recreation.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Bonnie L. Pratt of Cape Coral; four loving children, Debbie Leppek of NC, Cathy Cottilli (John) of Orlando, FL, Eddie Pratt of Cape Coral, FL and Josh Pratt of Lehigh Acres, FL; mother in law, Doris Smith of Sandusky, NY; grandson, Justin (Lisa); as well as two great grandchildren, Jason and Carmen.

Leon was preceded in death by two grandsons, Samuel McGinlay and Jason Leppek; as well as Leon’s sister.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Mullins Memorial, 1056 NE 7th Terrace, Cape Coral, FL 33909 with a Deacon officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Mullins Memorial.

Committal Services with Military Honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery following the Funeral Service.
