Leonard “Len” H. Zamonis
Leonard H. Zamonis (Len) 57, passed away on December 22nd in Cape Coral, Florida. He was born March 14, 1960 in New Brunswick, NJ to Anthony and Claire Zamonis, now deceased.
Len grew up in New Jersey and moved to Cocoa Beach, FL as a teenager where he graduated from Cocoa Beach High School in 1978. After earning a degree from Tampa Technical College, he moved to Orlando and went to work for Storage Technology where he was employed for 25 years. During this time, Len raised his three daughters with their mother, in the family home that he built, enjoying life on a small hobby farm. Len spent the last 8 years of his life being semi-retired and alternated between working as a handyman and traveling the country visiting his family. In 2016, Len bought a home and moved to Cape Coral, FL where met and fell in love with Cindy Hachez. Most recently Len became an Airbnb host for travelers of the Matlacha area.
As a skilled craftsman, Len was a self-proclaimed “MacGyver”. He loved the challenge of building, fixing and restoring just about anything and left many people in awe of his talents. Additionally, Len was a talented fisherman and boat captain who enjoyed nothing more than a day on the water. Len will be remembered for his kind nature, sense of humor and his passion for life.
Len is survived by his beloved partner and soulmate Cindy Hachez of Cape Coral, three loving daughters, Melissa Zamonis, Katie Zamonis and Emily Zamonis all of Orlando; one sister, Diane Gujda (Mike) of Concrete, Washington; and brothers, Anthony Zamonis (Donna) of Cummings, Georgia, Andrew Zamonis (Susan) of Grant, Florida, Duane Zamonis (Debbie) of Grant, Florida and Allen Zamonis (Barbara) of Broomfield, Colorado; and Karen Zamonis, the mother of his children. He will be dearly missed by all of those who loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3:30 PM on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at The Rotino Center, 5817 Driftwood Pkwy., Cape Coral, FL 33904.
